Industry Speaker - David Simon

2017 Radical Research Summit Embracing design ethnography

Ethnography is an immersive experience, methodologically helping researchers "get close" to data. It trains its practitioners to constantly observe and reflect, ultimately so they can make sense of what is happening in a culture and identify why.

This talk draws on contemporary design ethnography literature and David's own field-based research experience in 7+ countries, to share how researchers can incorporate basic ethnographic techniques into their own practice. Attendees will learn what we mean when we say "ethnographic techniques", hear personal stories of fieldwork, and find out how Atlassian is inspired by ethnographic ways of working in their strategic design research.
