2017 Radical Research Summit Unpacking Impact, speaking with Joe Munko

Tactical user research has immediate and tangible impact, but strategic user research needs timing, marketing (messaging and packaging), and accountability.

We conduct user research to positively impact the user experiences of products created by design and engineering. But how do we know the extent to which our research makes people’s lives better? In the Windows and Devices Research and Intelligence group at Microsoft, we created a framework and community of practice amongst the 185 researchers that helps our team drive impact of both tactical and strategic research. In this talk we’ll unpack how our team uses good science in a corporate way to activate insights in an engineering driven culture.
